I have been designing websites for 20 years. My first clients were visual artists, like myself, then writers, non-profits and galleries followed. My first sites were custom designed and coded using HTML, PHP and MYSQL as a database that allowed my clients to update their sites themselves.
The websites I have designed have range in complexity from the a simple design for a non-profit, to a comprehensive website for a New York City gallery that has close to 2000 images on it.
I have started to use DIY platforms (squarespace and WIX) that allowed a client to update their websites themselves. I'll design a website on squarespace, for example, and then make a video on how my client can update the site themselves. After the website is complete I am also available to help with updates, if needed, in the future.
If a client wants to add content to their site and only wants a template and instructions on how to do that, I'm happy to set that up for them. Or if a client wants me to do everything including update, I'm happy to do that.
